Uhuru orders arrest of all Vice Chancellors of Public Universities

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered for the arrest of University Vice Chancellors over failure to remit tax with the Kenya Revenue Authority

The head of state was angered by the fact that the University VC’s were by playing cat and mouse games with KRA, a show that they were stealing from both the government and the lecturers.

Already the KRA acting on pressure from President Kenyatta has frozen the accounts of 11 public universities over sh9.7 billion in tax arrears.

At the same time Vice Chancellors in six universities are targeted for prosecution for failing to remit Pay As You Earn (PAYE0 tax to the Kenya Revenue Authority.

The Kenya Revenue Authority has frozen the accounts of 11 public universities over Sh9.7 billion in tax arrears.

Those in the list are University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Technical University of Kenya and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
