I wish to officially report that yesterday the 21st of January the HLS1 steering committee paid a Courtesy call to His Excellency the Governor of Kakamega, the call was fruitful and its main focus was on the High Level Summit 1 ( HLS1) that will be held in Kakamega County in December 2020.
Though we didn’t get to meet with the Governor, He was well aware of our call and assigned the Chief of Staff Hon Robert John Sumbi and the Head of Special delivery unit Ambassador Ochami to meet with us. We deliberated and gladly came to consensus that in December this year the National Partnership for effective development cooperation in Kenya, working with the county government of Kakamega, the Council of Governors, key government ministries\ agencies and effective development stakeholders in Kenya shall host the First National High-Level Summit (HLS1) on Effective development cooperation in Kakamega.
The Summit will be attended by more than 3,600 delegates from all the 47 counties including Governors and National and county government, ministers, parliamentarians and leaders from international organizations, business, civil society, trade unions, academia and foundations.
The participants shall attend eight plenary sessions, six Amphitheatre sessions, five side events and more than 100 exhibitions to:
Take stock of the implementation of the internationally-agreed development effectiveness principles and commitments towards our shared prosperity as a nation.
Provide a learning space on development effectiveness, showcasing successful examples
Identify innovative Micro Development Initiatives to sustainable development that can be scaled up
Position the National Partnership to effectively contribute to implementation of the Kenya Vision 2030, the Big 4 Agenda, Chapter Seven of the BBI report and the Sustainable development Goals:
A follow up meeting will be held in February once the Governor confirms his availability.
