Facts – It seems Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s popularity in Nairobi is on a downward spiral after he got shut off while trying to confront President Uhuru Kenyatta.

When he rose to speak during the BBI launch at Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday, November 27, the governor claimed that cartels had infiltrated the event and had even denied him a chance to speak despite his position in the city.

“You refused to call me to speak, yet I am the elected governor of Nairobi, where this event is being held,” shouted Sonko at the event.

The crowd, which mostly consisted of lawmakers, however, heckled the governor to a point that he got lost for words.

“Sit down. No cartels here. This is BBI launch,” the crowd told him.

Strangely enough, the governor was not the one who got heckled at the event as Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen also tasted the congregation’s wrath after attempting to veer off-script.

Murkomen claimed the speakers chosen to address the audience were skewed and mostly allied to Raila, an utterance that did not seem to sit well with the attendees.

“We must have an honest discussion, even the way Junet you are running the program, we must have an honest discussion about it. Your excellency, it would be a lie for me to leave this stage without saying that this program has been skewed to leave out people with different opinions,” stated Murkomen during the event.

He was reacting to a statement by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who had welcomed him on stage, claiming that the event was meant to discuss the BBI report and not the problems of Jubilee.

Digital Strategist and Blogger Dennis Itumbi also got chased away from the podium right behind the president.

Itumbi, however, downplayed the incident, claiming that the event was almost coming to a close and he was on his way out anyway.

“I had a beautiful moment as I left Bomas a few moments ago… with the deputy escort commander who kept telling me, ‘we know you are not Dennis Itumbi but his brother’.

“Lucky for me, a colleague saved me… A few minutes later, he was clearing the road for me,” posted Itumbi.
