About 80 residents of Bachelor and Jevanjee  estates in Nairobi have been told to get ready for relocation as county government kicks off Nairobi Urban Renewal Affordable Housing Project  in the area.

On Thursday the county government officials  met the affected residents and each household was promised Ksh. 600,000 to facilitate their relocation and new rents.

According to County executive committee in charge of  land and Housing Pauline kahiga, the cheques are ready and will be issued soon to the affected residents before they are moved.

‘’Those who have been paying rents with county  government  can opt to continue paying as the project continues then we shall co-ordinate with the developer.. tha is another option because some may take 10-15 years…and for the cheques you shall pick them at our county finance offices.’’ Kahiga said.

She also reiterated that the 600 thousand cash is to facilitate tenants to get alternative houses.

Nairobi Urban Renewal Affordable Housing Project  targets Pangani,New Ngara Ngara estate,Old Ngara, Kariokor Ziwani, Woodley  ,Jericho among other areas .
