This is a list of poorest countries in the Caribbean according to the latest research released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  The ranking is usually based on the GDP per capita of various countries worldwide, which is a measure of the total output of a country in a year divided by the number of people in that country. The Caribbean is a region in North America which is made up of 25 independent countries and other territories. Haiti which has been a troubled nation since the deadly earthquake in 2010 is the poorest country with a GDP per capita of US$ 874.

For instance, the 10th poorest country in Africa (Guinea) has a GDP per capita of 508.15 USD compared to 18, 365 USD of Barbados which is the 10th poorest in the Caribbean.
