If you don’t have a Google Play Music subscription, you can make instant mixes based on your favorite artists or songs in your library. You can see what’s coming up next and skip ahead as often as you like.

As long as you’re signed in to the same account, you can listen to your instant mixes on the Google Play Music web player, your mobile device, or Android TV.

Start a mix from music you like

Thumbs up or down

To help Google Play Music create instant mixes with more music you like, you can rate songs by selecting the thumbs up and thumbs down icons .

If you don’t have enough music in your collection to create an instant mix from a selection, try creating a mix using a different song, artist, or album.

On your mobile device

From the Instant Mixes menu

  1. Open the Google Play Music app .
  2. Tap Menu  > Instant Mixes.
  3. Near the top of the screen, tap Instant mix .
  4. Search for an artist, song, or album in your library.

From a song, artist, or album page

  1. Open the Google Play Music app .
  2. Tap Menu  > Music Library.
  3. Swipe to select a song, album, or artist page.
  4. Tap Menu  > Start instant mix.

On Android TV

  1. Open the Google Play Music app .
  2. Select an artist, album, song, or genre.
  3. Select Start Instant Mix.

On your computer

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player.
  2. Select Menu  > Music Library.
  3. Select a song, album, or artist page.
  4. Tap Menu  > Start instant mix.

Edit a mix

  1. When a song is playing, touch the bar at the bottom of your app.
  2. Tap the music note  > Menu .
  3. Review the options for that mix.

On your computer

  1. When a song is playing, at the bottom, select the music note icon .
  2. Hover over a song and select Menu .
  3. Review the options for that mix.

Delete an instant mix

  1. Open the Google Play Music app 
  2. Tap Menu  > Instant Mixes.
  3. For the mix you want to delete, tap Menu  > Delete.

On your computer

  1. Go to the Google Play Music web player.
  2. Select Menu  > Instant Mixes.
  3. Hover over the mix you want to delete.
  4. Select Menu  > Delete.
