Former NTV reporter Lolani Kalu was given a chance to continue actualising his dreams when Kenyans overwhelmingly donated money to enable him put up a media production company.

Kalu also intimated that he had received more than seven job offers, one of them being that of a brand ambassador at a leading motorcycle distribution company.

“I have received calls from many people who want to offer me job opportunities and I have to think through all of them,” he stated in his signature Kiswahili accent.

The former journalist thanked everyone who had taken their time to reach out and support him.

“Now that I have the equipment, I will be going round the country telling stories and helping impact peoples’ lives in the same way they have impacted mine. We will start with Kwale County.

“I don’t take it for granted that people have shared what they have with me, despite the cash crunch brought by the slowed economic growth. I thank everyone who sent Ksh 50, or as much as Ksh 100,000,” he stated.

He explained that his show would feature stories about people whose lives had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kalu intimated that he was assembling a team that would help him actualise his dream as well as coordinate logistics for his new show.

“We will continue accepting donations because we will incur expenses on the new show. I want to make a difference using my talent,” he added.

From the conversation, one could tell that despite the struggles he has been through the last few months, Kalu is still a very sociable person.

He has a rich sense of humour and his command of the Swahili language is still exceptional.

His tone expressed optimism with life and excited for the new direction his life-long passion was taking.
