On Wednesday, September 18, President Uhuru Kenyatta, officially endorsed Mariga as the Jubilee candidate for the Kibra seat.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the president wished the former soccer star, who was accompanied by the Party’s secretary-general, Raphael Tuju, success in the by-elections scheduled for November 7.

After the announcement, DP Ruto took to Twitter to signal that it was all systems go in the race to clinch the seat.

“Now that Mariga Jubilee’s Kibra candidate was cleared by IEBC and formally unveiled today by our Party leader, it is all systems go. The ball is squarely in the court of all of us leaders serving under President Uhuru Kenyatta, party members and supporters to deliver the seat,” he stated.

Over the weekend, Mariga toured the constituency conducting door to door campaigns to drum up support for himself in the highly contested mini polls.

Mariga delved into development matters and also spoke on how he would work together with the locals to improve their lives.
