Veteran Kenyan rapper Chris Kantai is dead, his family representative Wanjiku Thuku has confirmed.

Kantai died on Wednesday morning at the St. Francis Hospital in Kasarani, where he was taken two days ago.

The “Huu Ni Nani G” hit-maker succumbed to breathing complications, Ms Thuku told SANDEKENNEDY.

“I am currently in touch with his family, including his wife and mother, to arrange his funeral,” said Ms Thuku.

Chris Kantai, who has died aged 42, is survived by a wife, child and his mother.

The musician was the only surviving child in his family.

His only sibling — a brother — died nearly ten years ago.

Chris Kantai is among the foremost Kenyan rappers, who scooped several trophies in the early 2000s’ Chaguo La Teeniez Awards.

He is credited for introducing – into the Hip hop market – celebrated rapper Stella Mwangi alias STL.

Some of Chris Kantai’s songs include: Kantadda, Happy, Jinga Hii, Mo than Jus Friends, Heshima, What Mo, Haterz, Lifesyle, Issues, among others.
